Thou Man of Grief

Thou Man of grief, remember me,
Thou never canst thyself forget
Thy last expiring agony,
Thy fainting pangs, and bloody sweat.

Father, if I may call Thee so
Regard my fearful heart's desire;
Remove this load of guilty woe
Nor let me in my sins expire.

I tremble lest the wrath divine
Which bruises now my wretched soul,
Should bruise this wretched soul of mine
Long as eternal ages roll.

Tune: Kedron
Text: Charles Wesley

Not So in Haste

Not so in haste, my heart,
Have faith in God and wait.
Although he linger long, he never comes too late.
He never cometh late; he knoweth what is best.
Vex not thyself in vain; until he cometh, rest.

Until he cometh, rest, nor grudge the hours that roll;
The feet that wait for God are soonest at the goal.
Are soonest at the goal that is not gained with speed;
Then hold thee still, my heart, for I shall wait his lead.

Tune: Fingal
Text: Bradford Torrey

Psalm 68

Oh, all ye kingdoms of the earth, sing praises unto God.
And him who is the Lord of all, with praises do ye laud.

To him who rides on heav'n of heav'ns, which he of old did found;
Lo, he sends out his voice, a voice in might that doth abound.

All strength to God do ye ascribe, because his majesty
Is over Israel; his strength is in the heavens high.

Thou God, art dreadful from thy place; Israel's own God is he;
Who gives his people strength and power.
Oh, let God blessed be!

Tune: Croydon
